Canceling DashPass because DoorDash seems to have lost most restaurants in town or something AND they’ve had maintenance/outage three of the last four nights I tried to use them
Postmates requires an Uber account now and Uber dropped my account so fuck em
I have the impression GrubHub has worse restaurant buy-in here than DoorDash does
I’m probably just done with all the apps?

Still fucking *floors me* that in the same day, minutes apart Postmates sent me their “Good News: We are switching to Uber Accounts” and Uber sending a “Sorry to see you go: We are dropping your account for dumb reasons” email
How else did they expect me to take that mixed message other than immediately cancel my Postmates subscription?
Just absolutely bonkers customer service for a paying customer. I didn’t trust Uber before that, and I definitely don’t trust them now
Who deletes accounts in 2021 due to “inactivity”? Was my email address eating a couple too many bytes in their database? 😹
I mean it was nice for me getting auto-unsubscribed from marketing emails from whatever that dumb process was, but that also seems counter to the goals of running a service like that. Right?

@email@example.com i was more or less forced to use uber, once. i was hit with a massive 'adjustment' of some sort two days later and when questioned their reply was 'tough shit'. they had one chance to prove they weren't scum and blew it so hard i now loudly denounce them at any opportunity.
i cite them as a primary example of poor customer service. i would use Frontier Communications as my example but they're less ubiquitous despite being way scummier.
@purple I signed into the app and couldn’t even get it to give me costs that made sense or explain why they didn’t make sense. Most of that was “yes I’m in an unfamiliar state and don’t understand it’s basic geography or how the elevation changes there” but you’d think that’s a use case they account for… and local knowledge a taxi company would tell you as soon as you called.
Also I know enough history to know why we have taxi laws and “it’s an app” shouldn’t be a run around taxi laws
@firstname.lastname@example.org "it's an app" wouldn't fly if they were transporting livestock instead of people 💢
@purple I still don’t understand how Taxi Laws and Hotel Laws got so circumvented by “apps” other than people have just been protected by those laws too long they forgot the horrors those laws got rid of in the first place. Like anti-vaxxers having the comfort of not seeing a polio or smallpox epidemic first hand
@purple I try to keep my jokes about how the next obvious law of that type to “disrupt” with an “app” would be gig economy fire fighting because if I make the joke too loudly I know some “innovator libertarian” is going to take it seriously and do it
I still remember being impressed and saddened by a Permanent Exhibit Against For Profit Firefighting in a small Ohio library with barely enough floor space as it was because enough people would need to be pointed at it as a reminder every year
