So my last minute decision on a theme/title was “A Visit to the Sea of Thieves”. Write what I know, I guess won out. Hoping to do it interesting justice: A sort of “what if I wrote an SoT tale like I or others would write Myst/Uru fan tales”.
Lore wise all the official lore happens tail end of the Golden Age of Piracy, *but* players are all playing *now*. On the one hand, its admirable that the team wants to leave player stories to players and explore only “ancient history lore” in tie-in books and such leaving tales of now to the players, but on the other probably not many players that would consider an Uru-style take on writing a Sea of Thieves voyage. Maybe I can do something interesting here.
Got a night owl Day 1 start. 1515 words (just below par but feels a good early start). Second person felt the most right to that spirit of “now is for the players”, even if this probably isn’t an interactive fiction novella by the end of November still feels a smart fit for a protagonist, some undeclared “you” reading this, some wannabe Captain reading a few too many weird conspiracy theories about strange islands full of treasure. I hope “you” are up for the adventure.
