Reading up on the Tuesday primary and the narrative I saw was that the likely winners are polling to be the biggest spenders and absolutely FUCK that. Politics shouldn’t be who raises the most money!
It doesn’t help that those candidates are the only ones I see ads for and I hate those ads. For example, one seems real ACAB boot licking for a supposedly Democrat primary after shit we saw in 2020 😬
“I’m voting for people who spent less” is maybe not the winningest strategy, but it’s mine
@wagesj45 Yeah, that Mayoral candidate running in the Democrat primary sounds much more like the Republican candidates. Hopefully it’s just “out of touch white suburban guy” and not racist dog whistles like some of the (R) candidates. Maybe its super cynical “straw polls tell us we need the racists this year to win” political footballing. His campaign is spending the most money so maybe they are playing a nasty cynical long game and this isn’t intended for the primary voters but Nov. (Ugh.)
@wagesj45 But you know two years after an unarmed woman was notoriously shot by cops executing a corrupt warrant written in bad faith (and rubber stamped by a judge not paying attention; she still has a few years in her term), everyone else on the Democratic Mayoral primary is running on Police Reform as a plank and it’s awful the front runner isn’t and sounds like there isn’t a problem to fix and the cops are doing great, just need to be Stronger. 🤦
