My ship's on fire, how about yours? (That's the way I like it and I'll never get board'd.)

2. Small sad that despite discovery theme and Cartographer commendation, ships map just shows everything. Slow reveal could have been interesting

Prior to the introduction of eunuchs servers, it was commonly thought the most compliant servers should be hard of hearing. For this reason, many early programming languages such as COBOL required constant shouting to insure the machines OBEY YOUR COMMANDS.
A leftover from this period is that many database servers remain hard of hearing. Though this is now considered a privacy feature if databases do not SELECT or INSERT just any data that they might overhear.
PC game grumbles Show more
Realizing that one of the reasons I favor playing the same game on the Xbox One over the PC version: that sweet, sweet Rare Achievement popup. It doesn't feel right accidentally popping one of those on the PC and getting a boring PC notification.
(Admittedly, 4K HDR is the more acceptable reason to Xbox rather than PC, given my current hardware situations, but the Xbox team knew what they were doing with that Diamond Bling.)
Telltale lukewarm take Show more
When Telltale announced the marketing title "TWD: The Final Season" my brain immediately went to "writing's on the wall, huh? Studio doesn't have long?" That was a very odd marketing decision, and I noticed it at the time. It is not a gut reaction you expect to be correct though.
I don't have much to add to the eulogy of a flawed company that didn't do right by so many friends, and friends of friends, than what those friends themselves have said, or Mixnmojo commented.

That feeling when you've resigned yourself to not having berth on that big crazy vacation you love next year, and then you get a waitlist notification and a 24hr deadline to beat yourself up about the whole decision again. 😥
hey everyone writing code: you can't get around this. code does not exist in a noble mathematical void which absolves you of accountability. any system which people touch is tied into the fabric of society, and should be scrutinized for potential to do harm.

I work for a Silicon Valley tech company from Kentucky and these programs excite me. I love the idea of having a vast network of peers in the industry all over the state. And yay Barren Country for getting involved!
Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home is the only essential Star Trek film. Pure Star Trek: A serious sci-fi topic (climate change) with a spoonful of camp/humor sugar to help the medicine go down. Don't @ me Wrath of Khan fans and your stanning for loose cannon antagonists over Star Trek Values and trying to be a better species. #SaveTheWhales

Anyone else feel like the new Captain Marvel film confirms I've been right for a while that the secret title of Avengers 4 has to be "Captain Marvel and the Fantastic 4vengers"?
Also, that weird glimpse into alternate 90s timeline where Marvel made better 90s choices and somehow this Captain Marvel movie was their actual first MCU film. I can just about see the tracking errors in my childhood VHS copy. That would have been an interesting timeline.

That panic attack when your home entertainment stack and core network stack go out with some magic smoke.
Anti-climax, it seems that it was just the APC power supply/battery backup that went. Swapped in a surge protector without battery backup for now.
I was in the middle of a Bojack Horseman episode, so was already feeling anxious when it happened and now I'm just bundle of raw nerves.

Bound the Shovel to Right Thumbstick click, really adds to my Gold Hoarding speed run game. (Right stick click defaults to spyglass, which when I most feel a need for a shortcut to the spyglass, I'm often carrying an Eye of Reach and Double Y is just fine.) (Other shortcuts currently: Banana on D-Pad Left and Bucket on D-Pad Right.)
Decided to pull the trigger and finish my blog post about some concerns I've been having about AI for some time now:

Smeap is the honk of a flamingo. Smeap was also at least once, a storybook land at the weird intersection of TV ads and the worlds they seem to inhabit. It was a place where wars were fought over sodas, and talking polar bears had very good reasons to guard soda machines. It was a place where rainbow color candies were harvested for electric power. It was a place where a prairie dog might move to big city inhabited mostly by Pink Flamingos to follow her dream to be private investigator, only to get slowly entangled in the seedy underbelly of crime and prohibited soda trading of the Neon Flamingos and their syndicate. Social media at times lately feels like it has become almost entirely seedy underbelly with very little upside. Maybe it needs more storybook worlds.
