Timely jorts content
@Taweret I can't seem to get a screenshot, but in Netflix series Tuca & Bertie S1E9 they travel to a Mall and one of the (closed 4 ever) stores is 4EVER JORTS. I believe this is content you find relevant to meme jokes
Was John Carter responsible for the mediocrity of 2019's Aladdin remake? There was Disney's marketing failure to market John Carter as the animated movie it was, how Fox muddled the waters by marketing Avatar (Cameron's) as a "live action", and how CGI animation somehow became "live action" leading to such mass confusion, while also taking the wrong lessons about remaking old books like Tarzan versus 90s animated films like Fern Gully and Beauty and the Beast. In this essay I will
Downloaded Ingress to see if I could help fix bugs like missing photos in some of the PokéStops around my home.
Ingress looks cool, but immediately hating just about everything I'm reading about this storyline. What a terrible plot full of terrible writing.
Especially with the HP game soon, having the POI editor continue to live in a game not very kid friendly and full of conspiracy bokum seems all sorts of dumb.
Think my Dentist just scammed me out of a couple hundred dollars. It may be time to look for a new one. It's always Dentist offices for me with the worst staffs and what seems like the most attempts to up sell or worse trick me into things I don't need and my insurance won't pay for. Maybe I've just had bad luck.
Pokémon rabbit hole
Admittedly today was a work day so it doesn't mean that much that this was an all day rabbit hole as it's not like I devoted anything but random snippets of break time to it, but it stumped a number of friends including I'm told multiple employees *at* The Pokémon Company, from what I was told.
Thanks to Niantic and my friends for help in such a random internet mystery of weird answers. I shall wear the hat proudly in irony now that I know what it means (capitalism is crazy).
Pokémon rabbit hole
I started playing Pokémon Go in April. Today I found a strange rabbit hole in the game when I asked what I thought an innocuous question that maybe was a sign I didn't watch enough of the cartoon and am not a real fan. "What does this logo mean? All it says is 'HF'." Was a villain team? A secret Pikachu loving anti-Pokemon Battling resistance league?
Today I learned about HYPEFEST. https://www.vox.com/the-goods/2018/10/8/17952040/hypefest-2018-brooklyn-hypebeast-adidas-streetwear-photos
DS9 documentary; The Orville
Watched the DS9 documentary. It was good, but a lot of fan service.
The biggest surprise takeaway for me was that prior to the doc I had not connected that The Orville's Dr. Finn was DS9's Kasidy Yates. Fascinating. I think it was the difference between SD and HD footage for me.
She held the netglass aloft in her sinister hand, its runes illuminating her face and shifting constantly in response to the barest motions of her thumb across the glass. Her dexter hand held carefully the handles of an incredibly lightweight and flexible, yet incomporably durable bag made from the chemically distilled essences of long dead life. It's contents a varied cornucopia from the local merchant hall, most of which was caravaned from thousands of miles away.
Sea of Thieves streamer shade
Had some SoT arena matches on in the background for the Spinal Figurehead code. A) I don't hate watching the Arena as much as I dislike playing it, B) watching the Arena still doesn't feel like SoT to me (like why are some of these streamers in first place when they are bad at ship basics or chest finding?), C) most streamers were less toxic than I imagined, and D) most streamers hide their health bar and I wonder about hax on maybe a few of them.
Gears of Star Wars: Anthem lukewarm take
Just picturing some twelve year old not allowed to play Gears of War or Destiny recreate what they've heard on the playground about those stories using Star Wars and Iron Man action figures. It's super twee, and basically me at that age, but also how does that get made on a AAA budget in this decade?
Gears of Star Wars: Anthem lukewarm take
Just started Anthem with low expectations and the story is still underwhelming me.
Beyond the obvious problems of how Destiny it feels and how didactic "as you already know" it's been explained:
It’s literally about a macguffin straight out of a KOTOR subplot reenacting for some reason the plot line of Gears of War. AT-ATs even show up in the hands of the bad guys using a synonym for Empire, the Dominion.
The Technology of Grief
Outlook on my phone lately has been forcing me to triage a subset of old email about 40-60 at a time every few days to pop the count badge. Some of it has been interesting. I've made it back to July of last year so far.
Came back to email my father sent off the photo collage he made for my grandmother's funeral. I saw it a lot that funeral so I didn't even bother opening the mail having seen the subject line.
The body said "Please share." 😭
Weird accidental phone mood
So on the bottom bar in iOS I currently have in order Outlook, OneNote, Cortana, and Edge. Looked at it funny and just realized it kind of spells ONoe which seems like a weird mood.
Maybe I need an L at the end to make it feel less gloomy.
(Also, yes I know it says something those are all Microsoft apps.)

Smeap is the honk of a flamingo. Smeap was also at least once, a storybook land at the weird intersection of TV ads and the worlds they seem to inhabit. It was a place where wars were fought over sodas, and talking polar bears had very good reasons to guard soda machines. It was a place where rainbow color candies were harvested for electric power. It was a place where a prairie dog might move to big city inhabited mostly by Pink Flamingos to follow her dream to be private investigator, only to get slowly entangled in the seedy underbelly of crime and prohibited soda trading of the Neon Flamingos and their syndicate. Social media at times lately feels like it has become almost entirely seedy underbelly with very little upside. Maybe it needs more storybook worlds.
