@taweret I got talked into trying Gears POP! The mobile free to pay game that combines the worst inclinations of both the Gears of War brand and the Funko Pop! brand. Gears lootboxes open up to reveal Funko lootboxes that open to reveal Funko-ized Gears characters. You’d hate it so much. I hate it so much.
Really happy with the new name, though. It rebalanced something I’d been thinking about elsewhere. #amwriting
This would be faster if the stupid original name / placeholder hadn’t also been a common English word. Hindsight. #amwriting
Nearly 22 kilowords in progress and deciding to do a find and replace on a character name because it’s been bugging me I didn’t like how that name looked next to another character’s when sitting at a table together. #amwriting
The Outer Worlds
I had been trying to figure out what TOW’s gameplay most reminded me of, and I’ve played a little of several Obsidian games, but the feeling was coming from something I’d spent a bunch of time in, yet not recently. Finally dawned on me that phantom RPG I was comparing TOW to was SWTOR. Obviously, none of the MMO grind, but a similar feel in map layout and how I think I interact with fast travel points.
The Outer Worlds
A lot of people would call how I’ve been playing “easy mode” but I think of it as Sierra adventure protagonist mode. Story difficulty, put all of my skill points into dialog options (esp. Persuade), take forever in each screen looting everything not bolted down or technically stealing, talk my way out of most combat, leave the rest mostly to the minions because I’m too busy looting all the blue shiny things.
